United Healthcare to Stop Offering Most Individual Plans in 2017

United Healthcare is set to drastically reduce its individual health plans by 2017. In a statement from United Healthcare (UHC), all off-Exchange plans will be cancelled as of December 31, 2016, except in the state of Utah. For on-Exchange plans, United Healthcare has stated they will drop most states, except for this preliminary list of states that may continue to offer United Healthcare’s health products: New York and Virginia. And, their Harken Health products in Florida, Georgia, and Illinois.

If you live in a state that United Healthcare has decided to drop your coverage, remember that as long as you make your premium payment each month, you will have health insurance until December 31, 2016.  Then during Obamacare’s Open Enrollment you can choose an on or off Exchange plan.
