The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Health Exchange or ObamaCare, begins January 1, 2014. Are you ready for the changes? There are four things every person in Illinois should know in order to prepare themselves.

•  To prepare all persons of Illinois, the 2014 initial open enrollment period for the Health Exchange ranges 6 months: October 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014. 2015 and beyond there is only a 3 month window for open enrollment. Contact 800-930-7956 extension 0 for assistance signing up.

• There are more than 12 Mil residents of the state of Illinois, and with the new law all must purchase health insurance or owe a penalty. There are a few exceptions to this rule including if the essential coverage would be more than 8% of your income.
