The Vital Shield plans by Blue Shield of California provide coverage for basic health services and feature low or moderate deductibles in case major medical events. The Vital Shield 900 plan contains a $900 deductible, 40% coinsurance, and a $4,900 copayment/coinsurance maximum.  Lifetime benefits for this plan are unlimited, and preventative care is covered at no additional cost. One office visit is provided before the deductible is met at a $40 copay. After one visit, the member pays 100% of the negotiated rate until the copayment/coinsurance maximum has been satisfied. Subsequent visits are $0 after the copayment/coinsurance maximum is reached. Prescription drug coverage is provided for generic drugs only (members are responsible for a $10 copay).
