Smartsense is underwritten by Anthem Blue Cross of California. How do I cancel my plan?
To cancel your plan, you must submit a request in writing. How does the deductible work?
With your smart sense plan you must first satisfy your calender year deductible before Anthem Blue Cross will pay for covered medical services. After you satisfy your deductible, you must then pay a portion of the costs. This additional portion is called co-insurance. The co-insurance for the smart sense plan is 30% which means you pay 30% on top of the deductible. For example if you have an x-ray and you get a bill for $100 and you have already satisfied your deductible, then all you pay is $30. The maximum you will pay in co-insurance is $2500 for individual or $5000 for a family. The most you will ever pay for all covered medical services in one calender year is the combination of your deductible plus your co-insurance maximum.
