Health Care Exchange: To Run Background Check on Call Center Hires
California was the first to release its Healthcare Exchange new “metal” plans and premiums. Covered California, California’s state Exchange, has been the forefront of new information and Governor Jerry Brown signed Senate Bill 509 stating that all employees working at the call center must pass a criminal check. This could mean that all states may follow the governor’s lead.
New Metal Health Care Exchange Plans
There are four new plans called the Bronze Plan, Silver Plan, Gold Plan, and Platinum Plan. Choosing a plan should be done based on your medical needs and as well as affordability. You may qualify for federal premium subsides, to help with monthly premium costs, or for federal cost-sharing subsidies, to help with out-of-pocket costs: coinsurance, deductible, and copayments. To learn if you qualify for subsidies call 800-930-7956.
Federal Involvement in Health Insurance Marketplace
For the Exchange to determine if someone qualifies for subsidies, is exempt, or owes a penalty the IRS has involvement in the ObamaCare Health Care Exchange. This new Senate Bill states that all potential call center hires are required to undergo a criminal background check because they will have access to Californian’s medical, tax, and financial information. Potential employees can be rejected if the applicant has a state or federal conviction, or a case pending, in which “moral turpitude” is involved. Moral turpitude is an abstract term that basically means a crime violates the moral standards of a community.
